Tangail, MAY 27 (V7N) – The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested Taleb Kha (60) in connection with the murder of Khandaker Sharifuzzaman Ranju in Basail, Tangail. Taleb Kha was apprehended from the Char Gobadia area of Kotwali upazila, Mymensingh, early Sunday morning. He is identified as the son of the deceased Sumez Kha of Kashil Paschimpara village in Basail.
On Sunday evening, Major Md. Kawsar Badhon, Commander of RAB 14's 3rd Company, confirmed the arrest. He stated that on the early morning of March 23rd, a six-person team from the Brij Madkashakti Treatment Center in Tangail city went to the victim's house to admit his drug-addicted son, identified as accused No. 1 Md. Farid (25), to the treatment center at the request of accused Monir Hossain (50). During this time, the accused in the case allegedly beat Ranju indiscriminately, causing him serious injuries.
Ranju was rescued and admitted to Tangail General Hospital. When his condition worsened, he was transferred to a private hospital in Dhaka, where he succumbed to his injuries on the night of March 23rd while undergoing treatment. The following day, the deceased's wife, Mosha. Nuri Akhter, filed a murder case with Basail Police Station. Due to the sensational nature of the case, Taleb Kha was arrested based on confidential information. In the morning, the accused was handed over to Basail Police Station. The operation to arrest other accused individuals is ongoing.
