Chatmohar, Pabna, May 15 (V7N) – A 55-year-old man named Azim Uddin Molla died after being struck by a CNG-powered autorickshaw while walking home after prayers at a mosque in Chatmohar municipality, Pabna.
The tragic accident occurred around 2 pm on Wednesday (May 14th) in the central Shalikha area of the municipality. The deceased, Azim Uddin Molla, was the son of the late Haran Molla from Bri-Guakhra village in the upazila.
Chatmohar Police Station OC Manjurul Alam confirmed the incident.
Eyewitnesses reported that Azim Uddin Molla was leaving the Madhya Shalikha Jame Mosque after finishing his prayers and had just stepped onto the road when a speeding CNG autorickshaw hit him. The impact caused him to fall onto the road, sustaining severe head injuries and injuries to other parts of his body.
Locals rushed to his aid and took him to Chatmohar Upazila Health Complex. Due to his deteriorating condition, he was subsequently transferred to Pabna General Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries around 3 pm. The driver of the autorickshaw reportedly fled the scene with the vehicle immediately after the accident.
Confirming the death, Chatmohar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Manjurul Alam stated that no formal complaint had been filed with the police station as of yet. He added that legal action would be initiated upon receipt of a complaint.
