Dhaka, May 24 (V7N) – Police have submitted a chargesheet to the court in the case related to the rape and murder of 7-year-old Ramisa in Pallabi, Mirpur, in the capital, naming the main accused Sohel Rana and his wife.
The chargesheet was submitted on Sunday (May 24) by the investigation officer of Pallabi Police Station, Sub-Inspector Ahiduzzaman, to the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court.
According to the chargesheet, Sohel Rana has been accused of rape and murder, while his wife has been charged with aiding and abetting the crime.
Earlier in the day, both accused were produced before the court in connection with the case. The Law Ministry has appointed Azizur Rahman Dulu as special public prosecutor to conduct the case on behalf of the state at the Dhaka Metropolitan Child Violence Prevention Tribunal.
Police recovered the body of the victim from a house in Pallabi on Tuesday last week, sparking widespread public outrage across the country. The main accused was arrested the following day from Narayanganj and later gave a confessional statement under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code, after which the court ordered him to be sent to jail.
