Dhaka, Mar 02 (V7N) — The High Court Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh has ordered the preservation of ballots and result sheets in four additional constituencies following allegations of vote rigging by candidates of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

The order was issued today by the court’s election bench after hearing petitions filed by four BNP candidates:

  • Sohel Hossain Kaikobad (Kurigram-2)

  • Saiful Islam (Rangpur-6)

  • Emdadul Haque Bhorsa (Rangpur-4)

  • Md. Sharif Uddin (Rajshahi-1)

Earlier, an election tribunal was constituted in the High Court Division under Section 49 of the Representation of the People Ordinance to hear petitions over alleged irregularities. The tribunal is being led by Justice Md. Zakir Hossain.

According to court sources, the Election Tribunal has so far ordered the custody of ballots and result sheets in a total of 10 constituencies — seven involving BNP candidates and three involving candidates from Jamaat — amid claims of electoral malpractice.

Petitions alleging irregularities in several other constituencies are also pending before the court.
