Dhaka, Sep 29 (V7N) – The eighth day of testimony in the case of crimes against humanity over the murder of Abu Sayeed, the first martyr of the July Movement, is being held today at the International Crimes Tribunal-2.
A judicial panel led by Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, Chairman of ICT-2, is hearing the testimonies against 30 accused, including former Vice-Chancellor of Begum Rokeya University (BRU) Hasibur Rashid.
On September 22, the seventh day of proceedings concluded with the cross-examination of witness number six, Siam Ahsan Ayan, by defense lawyers of the arrested and absconding accused. The statement of witness number seven was also recorded on that day. Ayan had testified earlier on September 21.

The remaining 24 accused remain absconding, and are being represented by state-appointed defense counsels.
It is notable that the testimony of Maqbul Hossain, father of martyr Abu Sayeed, commenced on August 28, marking the beginning of the tribunal’s proceedings in this case.
