Gazipur, Aug 18 (V7N) – The International Crimes Tribunal-1 has issued arrest warrants against five individuals, including former IGP and then Special Branch chief Javed Patwari, in connection with the 2016 killing of seven people in Gazipur.
The case, filed on October 8, 2016, involves the abduction and subsequent killing of seven madrasa students in the Noagaon Patartek area. According to the prosecution, the victims were locked inside a house in Joydevpur and killed on allegations of being militants. Authorities had claimed that the students were attempting to organize a new faction of the militant group JMB.
During today’s hearing, the tribunal set October 15 as the deadline for submitting the investigation report in the case.
In a related update, the OC of Bangshal Police Station appeared before the tribunal regarding witness protection in the Chankharpul case. The tribunal emphasized that anyone threatening witnesses will be arrested, and no concessions will be given.
