Dhaka, Apr 29 (V7N) — The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast widespread rain and gusty winds across the country, as inclement weather disrupts daily life in several regions.
After a night of dense cloud cover, the capital Dhaka has been experiencing heavy rainfall since early morning, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. Similar weather conditions have been reported in other parts of the country.
In response, the country’s major seaports—Chittagong Port, Cox's Bazar Port, Mongla Port and Payra Port—have been advised to display local warning signal number 3.
Fishing boats and trawlers operating in the northern Bay of Bengal have been instructed to proceed with caution and stay close to the coast until further notice.
According to the latest forecast, rain is expected in many areas of the Dhaka Division, Mymensingh Division, Khulna Division, Barisal Division, Chattogram Division and Sylhet Division, while some areas of Rangpur Division and Rajshahi Division may also receive rainfall.
The weather office has warned that gusty or squally winds may accompany these conditions, with the possibility of moderate to very heavy rainfall in some places.
It also noted that both day and night temperatures across the country may fall slightly due to the ongoing weather system.
Authorities have advised residents, especially those in coastal and low-lying areas, to remain alert and take necessary precautions.
