Dhaka, July 21, (V7N) – Police have arrested four individuals, including two former military officers, for their alleged involvement in a robbery at a residence in the capital’s Mirpur DOHS area, posing as members of law enforcement agencies.
The incident occurred around 3:15 PM on Sunday at House No. 807, Road No. 11.
Saleh Muhammad Zakaria, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Mirpur Division, confirmed the arrests on Sunday night. The arrestees have been identified as driver Masum Muntasir, police source Harun Or Rashid, retired Lt. Arif Mohammad Firoz Iftekhar, and retired Corporal Mukul Hossain.
According to the police, a group of eight people stormed the house under the pretense of searching for drugs, weapons, and illegal money. However, four of them were intercepted and arrested at a checkpoint, while the remaining four managed to flee.
Hosne Ara Champa, the owner of the house, stated that the group entered with clear intent to rob the house and later issued threats after looting valuables.
It is noteworthy that Harun Or Rashid was the first to be apprehended. Following his arrest and interrogation, the army handed over the suspects to Pallabi Police Station for further legal action.
Police are continuing operations to identify and apprehend the remaining fugitives involved in the crime.
