Chittagong, June 5 (V7N) – With Eid-ul-Azha approaching, a massive rush of passengers was seen at Chittagong Railway Station on Thursday morning as people began leaving the city to celebrate with loved ones in their village homes.
Amid the festive spirit, many passengers were left frustrated and stranded due to the Jamalpur-bound Bijoy Express failing to depart on time. The delay caused particular hardship for families traveling with children and elderly members.
Several passengers voiced their frustration, saying that while they expected better coordination during the Eid travel period, the Bijoy Express followed its usual pattern of delays, even during such a critical time. “At least during Eid, they should maintain the schedule. But it’s the same mismanagement every year,” said a disgruntled traveler.
Despite the setback, other major trains, including the Dhaka-bound Subarna Express and Sylhet-bound Pahari Express, departed on time earlier in the morning, providing some relief to other commuters.
To accommodate the surge in passengers, authorities have also introduced two special Eid trains to Chandpur, helping ease the pressure on regular services.
Still, many called for stricter monitoring and better planning to ensure a smoother travel experience for holidaymakers in the coming years.
