Dhaka, Mar 07 (V7N) – Former Prime Minister and late BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia will be honored with the ‘Best Indomitable Woman in the Advancement of Democracy’ award on the occasion of International Women’s Day. The award is being presented under the Indomitable Women Award program of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs.

The announcement was made in a press release signed by Tahmina Akhter, Public Relations Officer of the ministry, on Friday. Begum Khaleda Zia was described as the “heart of democracy”, receiving the award in recognition of her uncompromising leadership in restoring democracy and her outstanding contributions to establishing democratic principles.

Alongside her, five other women will be recognized in different categories:

  • Nurun Nahar Akhter – for achievements in the economic field

  • Mosha – for contributions in education and employment

  • Babita Khatun – for excellence as a mother

  • Nurbanu Kabir / Mosha Shamla Begum – for overcoming oppression and achieving life success

  • Mosha Afroza Yasmin – for remarkable contributions to social development

The awards ceremony will be held at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka on Sunday, as part of the official International Women’s Day celebrations.
