Dhaka, Mar 02 (V7N) — The US Embassy in Dhaka has clarified that visitor visas remain unaffected despite the suspension of immigrant visas for citizens of several countries, including Bangladesh.

In a statement shared on its verified Facebook page on Monday morning, the embassy said the US State Department has suspended the issuance of certain immigrant visas effective January 21, 2026.

According to the message, the decision applies to immigrants from countries that reportedly receive comparatively higher levels of government assistance funded by US taxpayers.

However, the embassy emphasized that the suspension does not apply to visitor visas. Applicants from affected countries can still submit immigrant visa applications and attend previously scheduled interviews, while the State Department will continue to arrange visa interview appointments.

The clarification comes amid confusion among prospective travelers, with officials urging applicants to follow official updates for the latest guidance.
