Dhaka, Mar 02 (V7N) – Bangladesh Railway will begin selling advance train tickets for Eid-ul-Fitr travel from Tuesday (March 3), ahead of the festival expected on March 21.

Railway officials said seven-day advance tickets for all intercity trains will be issued under a special arrangement, with 100 percent of tickets available online to ensure passenger convenience.

Under the schedule, tickets for trains in the western region will go on sale at 8:00 am, while tickets for eastern region trains will be available from 2:00 pm each day. The decisions were finalized at a preparatory meeting for Eid special train services held at Rail Bhaban in the capital.

Tickets for March 20, 21 and 22 will be sold subject to moon sighting.

Railway authorities also said 25 percent standing tickets for non-AC coaches will be available at originating stations before departure upon passenger request. Each traveler will be allowed to purchase advance tickets only once, with a maximum of four seats per transaction, and tickets will not be refundable.

Officials expressed hope that the fully online system and staggered schedule will help manage heavy passenger pressure during the Eid travel rush.
