Dhaka, Feb 15 (V7N) — The Advisory Council has expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for conducting what it described as one of the most successful and violence-free elections in the country’s history.
Speaking at a briefing at the Foreign Service Academy following the council meeting, Chief Advisor’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said the election reflected the aspirations of the people.
According to Shafiqul Alam, the polls saw no attacks on religious minority communities, while law-enforcement agencies regained public confidence during the process.
He added that the use of technology and security applications helped ensure transparency in the election.
The Press Secretary confirmed the timeline for the formation of the new government:
-
Members of Parliament will take oath at 10:00 am on February 17
-
The new cabinet will be sworn in at 4:00 pm the same day
Shafiqul Alam said the interim administration represented the aspirations of the people and had worked to establish the rule of law.
He noted that approximately 60 percent voter turnout indicated public sentiment and a shift away from the previous political system.
He also claimed that, unlike during the tenure of the Awami League government, there were no incidents of enforced disappearances during this administration.
