Dhaka, Dec 27 (V7N)- Election Commission (EC) Secretary Akhtar Ahmed has confirmed that the national identity card (NID) formalities of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and his daughter Jaima Rahman will be completed on Saturday (December 27).

Speaking to reporters, the EC Secretary said that Tarique Rahman and Jaima Rahman will be presented to the commission on Sunday to be officially included in the voter list. Their inclusion will follow the decision of the commission.

Earlier in the day, Tarique Rahman completed the NID registration process. He first filled out the online voter registration form and then visited the Agargaon election office, where his photograph was taken. He also completed the submission of fingerprints, iris scan, and biometric data.

It is reported that Tarique Rahman has applied to become a voter of Ward No. 19, in the Gulshan area of Dhaka-17 constituency.

NID Director General ASM Humayun Kabir said that Tarique Rahman is expected to receive his NID within 7 to 24 hours after completing the biometric process.
