Dhaka, Dec 07 (V7N)- Legal Advisor Dr. Asif Nazrul announced that holders of recognized certificates from Qaumi Madrasas will now be eligible to apply for the post of Nikah Registrar (Qazi). The government has opened this opportunity through a recent amendment to the law.
Dr. Nazrul shared the update on his verified Facebook page on Sunday (December 7), stating, “From now on, holders of a recognized degree from a Qaumi Madrasa will be able to become Nikah Registrars (Qazis). Earlier, this opportunity was limited to those with Alim certificates. The Law Ministry has amended the law to extend this opportunity.”
He further mentioned that individuals holding a Daura-e-Hadith certificate from a recognized Qaumi Madrasa board will also be eligible to apply starting today.
Al-Hayatul Ulya Lil Jamiatul Qawmia serves as the highest authority for Qaumi Madrasas in the country. There are six government-recognized education boards under this authority. According to 2022 government data, Bangladesh has over 20,000 Qaumi Madrasas, with more than 3 million students currently enrolled.
This legal amendment is expected to broaden professional opportunities for Qaumi Madrasa graduates and strengthen their participation in public service roles related to Islamic marriage registration.
