Dhaka, Dec 04 (V7N) – The Election Commission (EC), led by AMM Nasir Uddin, has written to President Mohammad Shahabuddin requesting a meeting on December 10 or 11 to discuss the announcement of the schedule for the upcoming parliamentary elections and referendum.

The EC is scheduled to hold an internal meeting on December 7 to finalize discussions on the election schedule. According to tradition, the final decision or announcement of the schedule follows the meeting with the President.

An EC commissioner confirmed the information on Thursday, adding that the election schedule may be announced within a couple of days after the presidential meeting.

EC sources indicate that voting is likely to take place in the second week of February.
