Gazipur, Nov 05 (V7N) — Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said that among all the factors influencing the upcoming national election, the people themselves are the main factor. Once they become election-oriented, “many will not be able to disrupt the process even if they try,” he remarked.
He made these comments while responding to journalists after attending a view-exchange meeting with officials on law and order, agricultural production, fertilizer, seed, and irrigation management at the Gazipur Deputy Commissioner’s office on Wednesday (November 5) morning.
The advisor emphasized that the political parties participating in the election share responsibility for maintaining law and order. “If the Election Commission, law enforcement agencies, and the administration work together, there will be no problem,” he said, adding that all forces have been instructed to ensure a free, fair, and festive election.
Chowdhury further mentioned that strict action will be taken against any Awami League leaders or activists who, despite being granted bail, are found involved in criminal activities ahead of the election.
He also warned about the possible spread of rumors, noting that the ministry has taken measures to counter them. “Neighboring countries often spread rumors. Journalists should report the truth,” he said.
The Home Affairs Advisor also called for collective efforts to eradicate drugs, corruption, and extortion across the country.
