Dhaka, Oct 26 (V7N) — Road and Rail Advisor Faozul Kabir Khan has announced that the family of the man killed in Sunday’s Metro Rail bearing pad accident near Farmgate will receive Tk 5 lakh in initial compensation. He also assured that if there is a job-capable member in the victim’s family, they will be offered employment in the Metro Rail project.

The advisor made the announcement after visiting the Farmgate Metro Station, where the tragic incident occurred earlier in the day.

A five-member investigation committee has been formed to probe the incident, with Bridge Division Secretary Mohammad Abdur Rouf serving as the convener. The committee has been instructed to submit its report within two weeks.

“The Metro Rail authorities will take full responsibility for the victim’s family,” said Advisor Faozul Kabir Khan. “Initially, they will receive Tk 5 lakh as compensation. If there is a working-age member in the family, he or she will be given a job in Metro Rail. I will also visit the injured at the hospital and take necessary steps for their treatment.”

Earlier in the day, Abul Kalam Azad, a man aged between 35 and 40 from Isharpati village in Naria upazila of Shariatpur, was killed when a bearing pad (spring) detached from a Metro Rail pillar near Bangladesh Krishibid Institute at Farmgate around 12:30 pm.
