Dhaka, Oct 15 (V7N) — The signing ceremony of the July National Charter, initially scheduled for next Friday (October 17), remains uncertain due to ongoing disagreements among political parties regarding the implementation process.
In response to the situation, the National Consensus Commission has called an emergency meeting with political party representatives today at 6 pm at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka. Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, President and Chief Advisor of the Consensus Commission, is expected to attend.
Dr. Yunus, who returned to Dhaka this morning after a visit to Italy, convened a preparatory meeting with commission members. Present at the meeting were Vice-Chairman Professor Ali Riaz, members Justice Md. Emdadul Haque, Safar Raj Hossain, Dr. Iftekharuzzaman, Dr. Badiul Alam Majumder, Dr. Md. Ayub Mia, and Special Assistant to the Principal Advisor Monir Haider.
Also in attendance were National Security Advisor Khalilur Rahman and Principal Secretary M Siraj Uddin Mia, as discussions aimed to resolve the disagreements and confirm the feasibility of holding the ceremony as scheduled.
