Dhaka, Oct 04 (V7N) – Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus has extended his heartfelt greetings to Buddhists across Bangladesh and the world on the occasion of Shubh Prabarana Purnima and Kadhi Chivar Daan, an important festival in the Buddhist tradition.

In his message, Professor Yunus highlighted the teachings of Gautama Buddha, emphasizing non-violence, equality, and friendship as guiding principles for achieving world peace. He said Buddha’s lifelong goal was to establish an ideal society through peace and harmony, and that his message continues to inspire people globally.

Professor Yunus also noted the thousand-year-old Buddhist heritage of Bangladesh, citing the ancient monasteries that mark the country as a historical center of Buddhism in Asia.

He praised Bangladesh as a land of communal harmony, where people of different religions, castes, and tribes have long coexisted peacefully. “Communal harmony and tolerance among the people of the new Bangladesh after the July Uprising will be stronger and more unwavering,” he said, emphasizing the importance of joint efforts in building a just, non-discriminatory, and humane society.

The Chief Advisor concluded by wishing the overall success of the festival celebrations.
