Dhaka, Sep 30 (V7N) – Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said that fascist elements attempted to disrupt celebrations in Khagrachhari to prevent Hindus from properly observing the Sharadiya Durga Puja.

He made the remarks while speaking to reporters at the Secretariat on Tuesday afternoon following a meeting on the Khagrachhari situation.

“The government will take strict action against those responsible for these fascist activities,” he warned, while assuring that the situation in Khagrachhari is currently calm.

Section 144 has remained in force for the third consecutive day in Khagrachhari. Security forces are conducting searches at all entry and exit points of the town. Although restrictions on students and local residents have been partially relaxed, inter-district and long-distance transport services are still suspended.
