Dhaka, Sep 14 (V7N) – The National Consensus Commission has described the recently prepared National Charter as a historic document of unity among Bangladeshi political parties.
Speaking at a meeting of the commission with political parties on Sunday, Professor Dr. Ali Riaz, Vice-Chairman of the Commission, emphasized that the charter was a product of joint efforts and symbolized cooperation across party lines. The meeting was chaired by the Chief Advisor.
Dr. Riaz said:
“The cooperation that was created between the parties will be maintained in the coming months, and we will be able to reach a final conclusion. This is our expectation. For this, the unity of political parties is essential. The defeated fascist forces still want this process to fail.”
The Commission held its previous meeting with parties on September 11, where discussions on implementing the July Charter were initiated but no final decision was reached.
According to the Commission, the July Charter goes beyond political reforms, serving as a long-term roadmap to strengthen democracy and good governance in Bangladesh. However, its success will depend on comprehensive political consensus.
