Dhaka, Sep 08 (V7N) – A total of 33,000 puja mandaps will be set up across the country during this year’s autumn Durga Puja, Home Affairs Advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury announced at a press briefing at the Secretariat on Monday afternoon.

The advisor said all idols must be immersed by 7 pm, with a fixed order for immersion in Dhaka to ensure smooth management. Ansar members will be deployed round-the-clock for the security of mandaps, while police will be assisted by three committee members during the day and four at night.

He noted that the puja organizing committees have not expressed any security concerns this year. “Last time, the puja was celebrated peacefully. This time, it will be celebrated even more peacefully,” Chowdhury assured.

For enhanced security, a special app-based system will be introduced so that any incidents can be reported immediately. He further stressed that drug dealing will not be tolerated at fairs held around the mandaps.

The home affairs advisor also issued a warning: “Miscreants may try to create trouble, but if they do, strict action will be taken.”
