Dhaka, Aug 23 (V7N) – The government has completed all preparations for the national elections scheduled for February, Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said on Saturday.

Speaking to reporters after visiting the BADC cold storage, central seed laboratory and vegetable seed processing center, the advisor said that “no conspiracy will succeed if the people remain election-oriented.”

He emphasized that the interim government is working to recover looted weapons and strengthen law and order ahead of the polls. “Law enforcement agencies are not only election-focused, they are also working to prevent the entry of illegal weapons at all times. The border is now more secure than before,” he said.

Highlighting broader democratic freedoms, Jahangir Alam Chowdhury added, “In the past, people could not express their opinions, but now they can write freely on social media such as Facebook.”

On the issue of rising vegetable prices, the advisor attributed the hike to crop damage caused by recent rains. He said the government will purchase potatoes directly to ensure fair prices for farmers while keeping consumer costs under control.
