Dhaka, Aug 21 (V7N) – Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment Advisor Dr. Asif Nazrul has said that tackling the issue of fake documents in overseas employment requires collective efforts, as no single authority can resolve it alone.
“If a few lakh people in one country create fake documents to go abroad, there is nothing that can be done by one entity alone. Likewise, if a person commits a crime in one European country, its impact affects others as well,” he said.
Dr. Nazrul made these remarks at a briefing on the one-year progress of the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment at the Secretariat on Wednesday (August 20).
Highlighting the government’s initiatives, the advisor said that significant progress has been achieved in sending workers abroad and ensuring their safety. He added that within a year, there has been unprecedented growth in expatriate employment and remittance inflows, which will bring a positive impact on the national economy in the near future.
He also mentioned that work is underway to further expand the Bangladeshi labor market in the Middle East and the UAE, while steps are being taken to regularize female workers.
On the issue of those detained abroad in connection with the July movement, Dr. Nazrul said that many returnees have already been sent back overseas, while efforts are being made to rehabilitate the rest within the country.
