Dhaka, Aug 19 (V7N) – Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said that extensive preparations are underway, including new recruitment and training, to ensure the next national election is conducted in a fair and peaceful manner.
Speaking at a briefing after the meeting of the Advisory Committee on Law and Order at the Secretariat on Monday, the Home Affairs Advisor confirmed large-scale appointments across law enforcement forces. A total of 15,851 police officers and 4,469 BGB personnel have been recruited, alongside 5,551 Ansar members, 1,558 in the Prisons Department, and 208 in the Fire Service and Civil Defense.
He further noted that incidents of mob violence have decreased compared to previous years. Special directives were also issued to prevent any untoward incidents around August 15.
Clarifying recent discussions, the Home Affairs Advisor stressed that there was no directive regarding “giving flowers or not,” and termed such reports baseless.
