Dhaka, July 22 (V7N) – With time running short, National Consensus Commission Vice-Chairman Dr. Ali Riaz has called on all political parties to support and expedite the implementation of the July Charter through a consensus decision.

Dr. Riaz made the appeal at the start of the 17th day of the second phase of discussions between political parties and the Commission, held Monday morning at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka.

At the outset of the meeting, the Commission expressed condolences over the recent tragic plane crash and urged government agencies to ensure proper treatment for the injured as well as conduct a fair and transparent investigation.

Today’s meeting is expected to finalize decisions on two critical issues: the Prime Minister holding multiple government positions and a comprehensive proposal regarding the caretaker government system, based on suggestions from various political parties.

Additionally, discussions will cover provisions related to the appointment processes of key constitutional bodies, including the Election Commission, Public Service Commission, Auditor General and Controller, Anti-Corruption Commission, and Ombudsman.
