Dhaka, July 1 (V7N) — The interim government has already prepared an election budget in anticipation of national elections during the 2025-26 fiscal year, Finance Advisor Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed has said.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting of the Procurement Advisory Council at the Secretariat on Tuesday afternoon, Dr. Ahmed stated, “The government will not be stingy with the election budget. Necessary allocations will be ensured.”
During the meeting, the Procurement Committee approved purchases including urea fertilizer, and finalized decisions regarding container handling at Chittagong Port, the advisor informed.
Meanwhile, Shipping Advisor Brigadier Sakhawat Hossain briefed reporters on the impact of the recent shutdown at Chittagong Port caused by the agitation of NBR officials. “Although the port was closed for three days, import and export activities have not been significantly disrupted. The financial losses are yet to be calculated,” he said.
Brigadier Hossain also announced that a new organization will be assigned to manage Chittagong Port operations for the next six months. A decision on the organization will be made at Wednesday's meeting.
