Dhaka, June 22 (V7N) — National Consensus Commission (NCC) Vice President Professor Ali Riaz has urged all political parties to make necessary concessions to ensure the swift preparation of the July Charter. He made the call during his opening remarks on the fifth day of the second phase of meetings held at the Foreign Service Academy on Sunday morning.
Professor Riaz emphasized the importance of cooperation, saying, “The meeting will resume again on Wednesday after a two-day break. During this time, I urge all participating political parties to deliberate on their disagreements within their party forums and come to a consensus.”
According to meeting sources, key issues on Sunday’s agenda included the formation of an upper house of parliament, ensuring adequate representation of women in parliament, and the delimitation of electoral constituencies.
Representatives from various political parties, including the BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, and the National Citizens Party (NCP), attended Sunday’s session, contributing to the ongoing dialogue aimed at building broad-based national consensus ahead of the next parliamentary elections.
