Dhaka, May 15 (V7N) — The Advisory Council has given both in-principle and final approval to the draft Welfare and Rehabilitation of Families of the Victims and Injured Students and the Public in the July Uprising Ordinance, 2025. The approval came during a council meeting held on Thursday (May 15), according to a press release issued by the Chief Advisor’s Press Wing.
In the same meeting, the council also granted final approval to the draft of the revised National Freedom Fighters Council Ordinance.
To further review and potentially restructure the draft ordinance related to the July Uprising, a five-member advisory committee has been formed. The committee members include:
-
Adilur Rahman Khan – Advisor for Housing and Public Works
-
Fawzul Kabir Khan – Advisor for Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources
-
Asif Mahmud – Advisor for Local Government
-
Nurjahan Begum – Advisor for Health
-
Farida Akhtar – Advisor for Fisheries
The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has been designated to provide secretarial support to the committee.
The ordinances are aimed at ensuring long-term welfare, compensation, and rehabilitation of those affected by the July Uprising, including students and civilians who were injured or killed. The move reflects the government’s continued effort to address historical injustices and support families impacted by political violence.
