Dhaka, Oct 10 (V7N)- Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar has denied allegations that he owns 700–800 rickshaws, challenging those making the claims to provide evidence that even one rickshaw is registered in his name.

In a post on his verified Facebook page on Friday, Parwar responded to remarks by Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Shafiqul Islam Khan Milton, alleging that misleading information and fabricated photo cards were being circulated against him.

“Let alone 700–800 rickshaws, I have a rickshaw in my name—give me proof,” Parwar wrote, challenging his critics to substantiate the allegations.

He said the spread of what he described as false propaganda reflected a lack of political principles, morality and accountability. He also criticized people who, he alleged, were repeating unverified claims on social media and television talk shows.

Parwar said he had initially decided not to respond to what he considered baseless allegations. However, he said the issue required a response after a politically appointed city corporation administrator also referred to the claims.

He urged political opponents to challenge one another through political arguments, ideology and ethical conduct rather than personal attacks and misinformation.

The Jamaat leader also called on those spreading false information about him and other political figures to stop such activities, warning that misleading social media content could confuse the public and damage the prospects for healthy political debate.

He urged social media users to verify information before sharing it and called on journalists and others working against misinformation to help establish the facts.

Parwar maintained that no evidence had been presented to establish that a rickshaw was registered in his name and reiterated his challenge to anyone making the allegation to produce proof.
