Sylhet, Nov 11 (V7N) — BNP Chairperson’s Adviser and party candidate for Sylhet-1 (City and Sadar) constituency, Khandaker Abdul Muktadir, has pledged to work toward fulfilling the aspirations of Sylhet’s citizens if the BNP is elected to power. He made the remarks while speaking at an open citizen dialogue held at a hotel in Dargah Gate area of Sylhet city on Sunday.

Muktadir said that the BNP, upon assuming power, would prioritize addressing the long-standing problems of Sylhet residents through collective and strategic planning. “We will work together to resolve key civic issues such as improving public transport systems, eliminating waterlogging, and ensuring sustainable urban development,” he said.

He emphasized that the BNP is committed to playing a strong, practical, and timely role in meeting public expectations. “Our vision is to build a prosperous Sylhet through coordinated efforts involving knowledgeable, honest, skilled, creative, and patriotic citizens,” he added.

The open dialogue was moderated by Dr. Mosaddak Ahmed Chowdhury, Assistant Professor of the Department of Business Administration at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST).

Prominent citizens participating in the discussion included former District Governor of Rotary International Bangladesh Shahid Ahmed Chowdhury, former General Manager of Jalalabad Gas Mahbub Sobhan Chowdhury, former SUST Registrar Jamil Ahmed Chowdhury, Dr. Mostafa Shahjahan Chowdhury, Convener of Sammilito Peshajibi Parishad Sylhet Dr. Shamimur Rahman, President of Sylhet Press Club Ikramul Kabir, President of Sylhet Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry Lubana Yasmin Shampa, Director Shama Haque Chowdhury, and UKBET Executive Director Asadur Rahman Sayem, among others.

Speakers at the event lauded the initiative for open civic dialogue and stressed the importance of inclusive policymaking to ensure sustainable development in Sylhet.
