Chattogram, May 10 (V7N) – Hundreds of demonstrators, comprising students and local residents, staged a protest on Friday night along the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar Highway, demanding a ban on the Bangladesh Awami League. The march began at the front gate of Patiya High School and proceeded through key areas of Patiya town, concluding at the Patiya Press Club premises.

Chanting slogans against the Awami League, protesters voiced their grievances and called for the party’s ban, citing allegations of misgovernance and authoritarianism. The demonstration caused brief disruptions in traffic flow along the busy highway.

No incidents of violence were reported, and local law enforcement maintained a visible presence to monitor the situation. Authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding the protest or the demands raised.

The protest comes amid a period of heightened political sensitivity in Bangladesh, with opposition groups increasingly vocal in their criticism of the government. Observers say such demonstrations reflect growing public discontent and demand for political reform.
