Savar, May 01 (V7N)- The long-anticipated Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union (JACSU) election will be held on July 31, the university announced early Wednesday (April 30). The election will take place from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, covering both JACSU and Hall Parliament polls, as per Article 8(b) of the JACSU constitution.

The announcement was made by Vice-Chancellor Professor Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan, followed by the election schedule revealed by Chief Election Commissioner Professor Moniruzzaman of the English Department.

Key dates in the election timeline include:

  • May 12: Publication of the draft voter list and draft code of conduct.
  • May 21: Deadline for objections and comments.
  • June 30: Final voter list and code of conduct published.
  • July 1–3: Nomination paper collection.
  • July 1–7: Nomination paper submission.
  • July 9: Draft candidate list published.
  • July 14: Deadline for nomination withdrawal.
  • July 15: Final candidate list released.
  • July 31: Voting and result declaration.

The Vice-Chancellor also pledged that by June 29, individuals involved in last year’s July campus unrest—including teachers, students, and staff—will face accountability.
