Jhalokathi, Dec 20 (V7N) — Students and local residents staged a protest in Kathalia upazila of Jhalokathi on Friday evening following the death of Inquilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi.

The protest took place at around 5:00 pm on Friday, December 19, at the Kathalia Bus Stand Choumatha, where students and people from all walks of life brought out a demonstration by burning tyres and marching on the road. The protest led to severe traffic disruption, with hundreds of vehicles stranded for nearly an hour.

The demonstration was organized to express anger and grief over the death of Sharif Osman Hadi, a prominent leader of Inquilab Mancha. Protesters demanded justice and accountability, calling for the identification and punishment of those responsible for his death.

Several political and student leaders addressed the protest gathering. Among them were Kathalia Upazila BNP Organizing Secretary Md Alimul Islam Alim Munshi, Upazila Chhatra Dal Convener Md Rakibul Islam Tushar, Upazila Islami Chhatra Shibir President Md Mehedi Hasan, General Secretary Md Asadullah, Anti-Discrimination Student Movement leader Md Naim Mahmud, and Chhatra Dal leader Bayezedur Rahman Shanto.

Other speakers included Md Talash Akon, Md Salman, Md Pritom Munshi, and Chhatra Odhikar Parishad Vice President Md Majed, among others.

Speakers at the protest condemned the killing of Sharif Osman Hadi and urged the authorities to ensure a swift, transparent, and impartial investigation. They also called for steps to maintain public safety and prevent further violence, warning that public anger would continue if justice is delayed.
