Pabna, Nov 25 (V7N) – BNP activists in the Pabna-3 constituency staged a torch-lit protest march on Monday evening demanding the replacement of the party’s nominated parliamentary candidate. The procession was held in the Bhanguara municipal area of Pabna’s Bhangura Upazila.

The demonstration began at the Bhangura bus stand, where BNP members and activists from affiliated organizations marched through key streets carrying flaming torches. Protesters chanted slogans calling for the withdrawal of the nominated candidate and urging the party leadership to select a grassroots-based local contender.

After the march, a brief rally was held at the Baral Railway playground. Speakers included Anisur Rahman Liton, Joint Convener of Bhangura Upazila BNP; Sohel Rana, Member Secretary of the Upazila Swechasebak Dal; Sujon, Member Secretary of the Municipal Swechasebak Dal; Ashraf Ali, Joint Convener of the Upazila Jubo Dal; and former Municipal BNP Joint Convener Abdus Salam Noor, among others.

Speakers argued that the current nominee has never engaged with the constituency and urged party high command to shift him to a divisional seat more fitting for a central-level leader. They demanded that the Pabna-3 nomination be given to a committed local figure. The names proposed by protesters included former MP and former Chatmohar BNP President K.M. Anowarul Islam, and former Member Secretary and former Upazila Chairman Hasadul Islam Hira—emphasizing that either of the two would be acceptable to grassroots supporters.
