Mongla, Nov 22 (V7N) – Families affected by a devastating fire in Mongla have received humanitarian assistance on behalf of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman. The aid was handed over on Saturday morning by Mongla Municipality BNP President, former mayor, and nomination aspirant for the Bagerhat-3 (Mongla–Rampal–Fakirhat) constituency, Md Zulfiqar Ali.

Zulfiqar Ali visited the home of fire victim Md Rafiq Sheikh in Chapra village of Sonailtala Union and provided cash support along with essential relief items including rice, lentils, cooking oil, sarees, lungis, blankets, and other necessities. He was accompanied by Mongla Upazila BNP President Abdul Mannan Hawlader and Municipal BNP Organizing Secretary Nasir Talukdar.

The fire broke out on Friday night after an electrical short circuit, leaving day labourer Rafiq Sheikh’s house completely destroyed within moments. With four young children, the family is now living under the open sky. BNP leader Zulfiqar Ali’s immediate support brought emotional relief to the victims, who expressed gratitude for being the first to stand beside them in their time of crisis.

Earlier, Zulfiqar Ali had also visited the home of Tayebur Rahman in Dakshin Chila, whose house was similarly destroyed by an electrical short circuit on Wednesday night. On behalf of Tarique Rahman, he delivered relief supplies there as well.
