Brahmanbaria, Oct 18 (V7N) – A minor dispute during daytime bathing in a pond escalated into a violent clash between two groups of villagers in Sarail upazila, leaving at least 30 people injured.

The incident occurred on Friday night between residents of Choto Dewanpara and Howlapara in Sarail Upazila Sadar Union. According to local sources, in the afternoon, Md. Taim from Howlapara went to a pond in neighboring Choto Dewanpara with a few friends for bathing. During the visit, a dispute arose with Shakil, Shipon, and other villagers, resulting in a physical altercation.

Following this daytime quarrel, both groups armed themselves with locally made weapons and engaged in a confrontation before sunset. As night fell, villagers used torches to locate and attack members of the opposing side.

The injured were treated at Sarail Upazila Health Complex and various private clinics.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mosharaf Hossain confirmed that law enforcement arrived at the scene after receiving reports and brought the situation under control. Police have been deployed in the area to prevent further clashes and ensure public safety.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely to prevent any escalation of violence and have urged villagers to resolve disputes peacefully through dialogue.
