Jhalokathi, Aug 24 (V7N) – Residents of Rama Badak village in Ward 9 of Saturia Union, Rajapur Upazila, are raising alarm over the poor condition of the main access road leading to two schools in their community. Local eyewitnesses say the route, used daily by hundreds of students, has neither seen development nor maintenance for years—exactly when such upgrades are needed most.
The two affected schools—South Tarabunia Government Primary School (School No. 6) and Ram Badak Tarabunia Secondary School—are both located along a dirt road that becomes nearly impassable during the rainy season due to thick, knee-deep mud. In the dry months, the same road becomes a cloud of dust, exposing young students and accompanying guardians to respiratory health risks.
Local resident Ashis Sikdar lamented, “Hundreds of students walk this path to school every day, yet there has been no notable development over the years. We endure severe hardship daily.”
Parents have repeatedly alerted local leaders to the issue, but no action has been taken so far. They demand immediate repair of the road and a long-term infrastructure solution.
Upon visiting the site, the road was found riddled with deep potholes and uneven surfaces. Even light rainfall creates puddles so deep that walking through them becomes dangerous. Despite these hazardous conditions, students must cross them daily to reach their classrooms.
Villagers are now calling on the relevant authorities to intervene with urgency and extend lasting support to ensure the safety of schoolchildren.
