Barguna, Feb 16 (V7N) – BNP Vice Chairman and former Barguna-2 MP Nurul Islam Moni questioned the government's delay in holding elections, stating, "The country became independent in nine months, why can't elections be held in nine months?"

He made this statement during a view-sharing meeting with journalists at the Patharghata Press Club on Sunday afternoon. Addressing the role of journalists, he asserted that since there is no functional parliament, journalists have become the number one pillar of the country. He also alleged that Sheikh Hasina was sheltered by India with the intention of controlling Bangladesh, urging journalists to take responsibility for protecting the nation.

The meeting was presided over by Patharghata Press Club President Amin Sohel and attended by several BNP leaders, including Saiful Islam Jamal, Chowdhury Md. Faruk, Harun Rashid Howlader, and various youth and student leaders of the party.
