Dhaka, Oct 10 (V7N) – Police have arrested three women involved in a theft ring that deceived flat owners by pretending to rent apartments and then stealing mobile phones. The arrested women are Tisha Akter (21), Isha Akter (18), and Jesmin (42).
On September 25, Tisha and Isha were apprehended while attempting to steal from a flat in Shahjahanpur. Based on their information, Jesmin, another member of the gang, was arrested on October 7 near Gonoshasthya Nagar Hospital in Dhanmondi.
Muhammad Talebur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of Media and Public Relations at Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), said that on September 6, Tisha and Isha entered a flat on Dhanmondi 6th Road under the pretext of renting it. During this visit, they stole three expensive mobile phones. A case was filed at Dhanmondi Model Police Station. On September 19, they carried out a similar theft at another flat on Dhanmondi 5th Road, resulting in another case. On September 25, they were caught attempting the same modus operandi in Shahjahanpur.
The police officer added that Tisha and Isha were initially sent to jail through the court. Later, they were taken on remand for the Dhanmondi cases, during which they confessed that Jesmin was part of their gang. Subsequently, Jesmin was arrested on October 7.
The three women had been targeting valuable items using the same method in Dhanmondi, Kolabagan, Sobujbagh, and other areas of Dhaka for an extended period.
