Dhaka, May 01 (V7N)– Labor and Employment Advisor Brigadier General (Retd) Dr. M. Sakhawat Hossain stated that the interim government is committed to meeting the basic needs of workers, protecting their health, and safeguarding their interests.

Speaking at a rally organized by the Ministry of Labor and Employment on the occasion of Great May Day, he said, "The country cannot move forward until the owners and workers are united." He inaugurated the rally by releasing a white dove balloon, symbolizing peace and unity.

The rally began at Manik Mia Avenue, moving from Khamarbari to Bijoy Sarani, and concluded at the China Friendship Conference Center. Numerous representatives from labor and professional organizations participated.

Despite the government's assurances, labor activists expressed dissatisfaction, saying that the true spirit of May Day has yet to be realized in Bangladesh. They highlighted the continued neglect of workers, raising concerns over the labor law and the lack of effective implementation of workers' rights.

Advisor Sakhawat reiterated the government's intention to reform labor laws and called for stronger cooperation between employers and employees.
