New Delhi, Jul 24 (V7N)- The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has reiterated its demand for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and announced that its student-led movement will continue across India.
The party leaders made the statement on Friday (July 24) after the second round of talks with representatives of the Indian government.
According to CJP leaders, the government has sought time until Saturday afternoon to discuss their demand for the removal of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The discussion took place at the Constitution Club of India on Friday afternoon.
Government representatives in the meeting included Union Health Minister JP Nadda and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Jitendra Singh. CJP was represented by its national spokespersons Saurabh Das and Ashutosh Ranka.
Speaking after the meeting, Ashutosh Ranka said the government has requested additional time to consider their demand regarding the education minister’s resignation.
"We hope the government will take a decision soon and remove Dharmendra Pradhan. The government has given in-principle approval to two of our demands — compensation for the families of NEET candidates who died and withdrawal of FIRs and legal cases filed against student protesters," he said.
The CJP agreed to continue dialogue after the government accepted two conditional demands of the movement. These include no legal action against peaceful protesters and providing adequate compensation to families affected by recent examination irregularities.
The meeting between CJP leaders and government representatives continued for around two hours. During the discussion, the party presented three major demands and five suggestions for reforms in the examination system.
Meanwhile, Union Health Minister JP Nadda said the government representatives have informed the protesters that another meeting will be held on Saturday afternoon after further discussions within the government.
The student-led movement has intensified in recent weeks over allegations of examination paper leaks and demands for major reforms in India's education system.
