Riyadh, Jun 08 (V7N) – Reports of a powerful explosion at the US military's Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia have emerged amid renewed tensions between Iran and Israel despite ongoing ceasefire efforts.
According to reports carried by Middle East Eye, Iranian authorities have denied any involvement in the incident. Iran's state broadcaster, Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting, quoted a military official as saying that Iran did not launch any missiles toward the facility.
Earlier, several media outlets reported that a missile alert had been issued at the air base shortly after a suspected launch was detected. Saudi civil defense authorities reportedly activated emergency warning systems, cautioning residents and personnel about a potential threat. Witnesses also reported hearing multiple explosions in the area.
However, Saudi authorities have not publicly attributed the incident to any country or group, and no official confirmation regarding the cause of the explosions has been issued.
The development comes as tensions remain high across the Middle East following a new round of hostilities between Iran and Israel. Iran launched missile strikes against Israel on Sunday night, describing the operation as a response to Israeli actions in Lebanon.
