New York, Sep 12 (V7N) – The United Nations Security Council has condemned Israel’s recent attack on Qatar’s capital Doha and unanimously called for a reduction in tensions in the region.

In an emergency meeting on Thursday (Sept 11), all 15 member states – including Israel’s key ally, the United States – supported the statement.

The council expressed solidarity with Qatar and urged immediate steps to ease the situation. While the statement did not explicitly mention Israel, it pressed for an end to the fighting in Gaza and the release of hostages.

Earlier on Tuesday, Israeli airstrikes in Doha targeted Hamas leaders, leaving at least six people dead.
