Tel Aviv, June 13 (V7N) – Iran has launched a large-scale counterattack on Israel, sending more than a hundred drones toward Israeli territory in the past few hours. The Israeli military confirmed this information on Friday.
An Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesman said that Iranian forces had launched over a hundred drones targeting various locations in Israel. “Our defense systems are actively working to intercept and neutralize the threats,” the spokesman added.
This escalation follows Israel’s earlier attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities, codenamed Operation Rising Lion, carried out early Friday morning. The Israeli assault specifically targeted Iranian missile installations and key commanders. Following the offensive, a state of emergency was declared across Israel in anticipation of retaliatory strikes.
In a recorded message, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, “We will continue our attacks on Iran as long as necessary. Operation Rising Lion has been launched to dismantle the Iranian threat, and it will continue until that threat is neutralized.”
Netanyahu further accused Iran of posing an existential threat to Israel, stating, “They have been threatening to destroy us for decades.”
The situation remains tense as regional powers closely monitor the unfolding conflict, with fears of broader instability across the Middle East.
