Washington, Jun 09 (V7N) — Tesla CEO Elon Musk has proposed the formation of a new political party in the United States aimed at representing the middle 80% of the population. The idea surfaced amid escalating tensions between Musk and former President Donald Trump.

Musk launched a poll on X (formerly Twitter), asking, “Is it time for the United States to form a political party that represents the middle 80% of people?” Approximately 80% of respondents voted “yes.”

Following the poll, Musk declared, “The people have spoken. We need a new political party that will be the voice of 80% of the people. And exactly 80% of the people agree — that’s the reality.”

According to Time magazine, Musk’s proposed party is named “The America Party,” echoing the name of “America PAC,” a super PAC Musk formed to support Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign. At that time, Musk was among Trump’s biggest donors, contributing roughly $200 million.

However, relations between Musk and Trump have recently soured, particularly over Musk’s opposition to Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill,” which Musk described as “disgusting” and called for its repeal. Musk also made controversial claims linking Trump to Jeffrey Epstein’s secret files, which he later deleted, and called for Trump’s impeachment, suggesting replacement by Vance.

Trump fired back on his platform Truth Social, calling Musk “annoying” and urging him to leave the White House. In an interview with NBC News, Trump warned of unspecified consequences if Musk funded Democrats.

Despite the public dispute, some politicians view the conflict as temporary. Florida Republican Congressman Jimmy Patronis predicted that Musk would not form a new party and that Musk and Trump would likely reunite politically within a month.

As this rivalry unfolds, the future of Musk’s “The America Party” remains uncertain, but it is already stirring up American political discourse.
