DHAKA, Bangladesh – The Chinese Embassy in Dhaka has once again provided a fresh batch of COVID-19 testing kits to Bangladesh, continuing its support for the country's health sector. The donation, handed over in a brief ceremony in the capital on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, comes in response to a request from Bangladesh's Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The testing kits are intended to alleviate pressure on local healthcare facilities that are actively involved in COVID-19 testing and treatment. Chinese Embassy Counselor Li Shaopeng, present at the handover alongside Md. Halimur Rashid, Line Director of the Communicable Disease Control (CDC), emphasized that this "emergency support reflects the strong cooperation between the two countries in the health sector."
Counselor Li Shaopeng further stated, "China is committed to working with Bangladesh to promote the vision of a 'Global Community of Health for All' and ensure that joint efforts continue to benefit the people of both nations." The concept of a "Global Community of Health for All" is a Chinese initiative that aligns with the World Health Organization's broader "Health for All" goal, emphasizing health equity, safety, and sustainable development globally through international cooperation.
Since the initial outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chinese Embassy has consistently provided various forms of assistance to Bangladesh. This support has included medical equipment, vaccines, and ongoing technical cooperation, highlighting a sustained commitment to bilateral health collaboration.
