Los Angeles, June 19 (V7N) – Johann Manzambi scored twice as Switzerland secured a commanding 4-1 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina in their Group B clash at the FIFA World Cup on Thursday.

The match, played at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, remained goalless throughout the first half as both sides struggled to create clear-cut chances.

Switzerland came out strongly after the break and finally broke the deadlock in the 74th minute when Manzambi found the back of the net to put his side ahead.

Bosnia's hopes of a comeback suffered a major setback in the 80th minute when defender Tarik Muharemovic was shown a straight red card for a foul on Breel Embolo inside the penalty area, reducing his team to 10 men.

The Swiss quickly capitalized on their numerical advantage. Ruben Vargas doubled the lead moments later before Manzambi struck again in the 90th minute to make it 3-0.

Bosnia and Herzegovina managed to pull one back in stoppage time through Amr Memić, but Switzerland had the final say. Captain Granit Xhaka converted a penalty in the closing moments to seal an emphatic 4-1 victory.

The win strengthens Switzerland's position in Group B as they continue their quest for a place in the knockout stage.

Switzerland will next face Canada on June 24, with the match scheduled to kick off at 1:00 am Bangladesh time.
