Dhaka, Sep 08 (V7N) – The Bangladesh Army has warned that freedom fighters and public figures cannot be targeted by mobs, pledging strict action against anyone attempting to incite such violence. The statement came from the Army Chief during a press conference on Monday at noon, in response to questions about the recent attack on Bangabir Quader Siddiqui’s house in Tangail.
The army clarified that it has no involvement in the upcoming DUCSU elections, countering rumors spread by vested interest groups. “The army wants the election to be fair and just,” the chief said, adding that a peaceful electoral process is crucial to strengthening democracy.
Regarding the 13th National Parliament elections, the army stated it will act under instructions from the Election Commission and the government, though no directives have been received yet.
The army also addressed misinformation circulating on social media, warning that the government will take action against external propaganda and false information. Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies are investigating the Awami League’s sudden procession, which had sparked public concern.
